Introduction
In today’s world of skyrocketing used car prices, buyers are searching far and wide for a good deal. With buying a used car across the country comes the concern of delivery of the vehicle. Car transportation is a huge business, with hundreds if not thousands of companies delivering cars around the world. With so many options, how do you find the right car transportation company? I ran into this issue when I purchased my 1966 Chevelle Malibu off of my brother, who had the car stored in Indiana. Fortunately, I stumbled across AirRyd, a car transportation company that takes the guesswork out of the process.
Who is AirRyd?
AirRyd is a broker in the car transportation industry who acknowledged the issue of terrible customer service. False promises, price gouging, and bad quotes riddle the car transportation industry. As stated on AirRyd’s website, their goal is to “provide you with the knowledge and information you need, so that you can make an informed decision as a consumer looking to move your car”.
AirRyd focuses on the customer experience by catering to the consumer and pairing them with highly vetted car transportation companies, allowing for a smooth and positive experience.
How Does It Work?
When I discovered AirRyd on their YouTube channel, I dove into every hot topic there was from shady broker companies to bad customer experiences. What I immediately noticed was AirRyd was not only calling out the competition, but backed it up with their performance and customer service.
I went on the website and filled out all of the information for the vehicle, notified them it was drivable, and provided the pickup and estimated delivery window. From there, I paid AirRyd the $165 service fee and they provided me an estimate for the delivery.
Immediately after purchasing the service, AirRyd reached out to me via text message and provided consistent updates throughout the process. AirRyd advised me of the company who was to transport my Chevelle and linked me to their company page on the website. AirRyd set me up with GAS motorsports, which has a solid track record for car transportation. Not only was AirRyd quick to make contact with me, but the driver from GAS motorsports was also prompt to communicate with me. After talking with them, I knew my car was in good hands.
How Did It Go?
AirRyd and the driver from GAS motorsports continually updated with the process. The driver picked up the vehicle in an enclosed trailer and was on the road in no time! The driver contacted me immediately upon receiving the vehicle and gave me an estimated day of delivery. A couple days later, the driver arrived at my house with the Chevelle! The huge enclosed trailer was not only handling my vehicle, but also a McLaren 720S and a 55 Bel-Air. The trailer had every vehicle secured, preventing any possible damage from occurring to the cars. A trailer like this is perfect for those buying and shipping classic cars and exotic cars alike!
The driver unloaded my Chevelle with care and completed the delivery without issue. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the process and how smoothly it went, especially with this being my first time shipping a car.

AirRyd Car Transportation: Is It Worth It?
In one word: Absolutely. AirRyd.com provided an amazing customer service experience from start to finish. The communication was unrivaled and they made themselves available to me for any questions I had. When the car was delivered, AirRyd again reached out to confirm how the delivery went. This company genuinely cares for its customers and I would be happy to use them again in the future for any car transportation needs.
I had such a positive experience with AirRyd that I recently recommended them to my sister. My sister needed to transport her car from Tennessee and she had a similar experience to me. Her car was shipped to her in five days and she had no hiccups.
Overall, you can’t beat AirRyd’s customer service, top notch selection of shipping companies, and the speed in delivery. If you are in need of shipping a car, I highly recommend this company!
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What Are Common Issues When Booking With Car Transportation Companies?
One of the most common issues is transparency. When booking with larger companies, you believe the specific company is who is picking up and shipping your car. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Car transportation companies, like AirRyd, are all brokers. There is no benefit to them having their own fleet of trucks. Also, the price estimates are commonly advertised lower than what the company charges you. I have read dozens of reviews that said the brokerage estimated one cost, only for the company to ask for hundreds of dollars more.
2. How Long Was The Entire Process?
From start to finish, I had my shipping truck booked within thirty minutes. GAS motorsports called me about an hour later to confirm details about the car, and they gave me the estimated time frame of 48 hours to pick it up. The truck was at the shop within 24 hours and I had my car two days later. Altogether, it was about four days to get the car from Indiana to California.
3. Is An Enclosed Trailer Worth The Extra Cost?
If you have a car you spent a significant amount of money on or a collector car, absolutely get an enclosed trailer. You will protect your car from the elements, rock chips, and other debris from ruining your car while in transit. Its just another layer of security to ensure your car gets to you safe and sound. However, if you purchased a car that is not high value or a collector, you could get away with an open trailer and save some money.
4. How Much Did It Cost?
For the enclosed trailer shipping the Chevelle from Indiana to California and the service fee from Airryd, altogether it was $1765. To compare it to other companies I worked with, the cost was $150-$200 less than the competition at the time of booking.
